Your business mailbox works in any standard mail app — you don’t have to use webmail. All you need is your email address, its password and the server settings below.
The settings you need
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Username | Your full email address, e.g. priya@yourcompany.com |
| Password | Your mailbox password |
| Incoming server (IMAP) | mx.whysharedmail.com, port 993, SSL/TLS |
| Outgoing server (SMTP) | mx.whysharedmail.com, port 465, SSL/TLS (or 587 with STARTTLS) |
| Outgoing authentication | On — same username and password |
On iPhone, iPad and Mac you can skip typing all of this: in your WhySharedMail dashboard open the mailbox and tap Set up on iPhone / Mac to download a one-tap setup profile.
iPhone and iPad (Mail app)
- Open Settings → Mail → Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Mail Account.
- Enter your name, full email address, password and a description, then tap Next.
- Choose IMAP. Enter
mx.whysharedmail.comas both incoming and outgoing host name, with your full address as the username. - Tap Next, wait for the check, then Save.
Android (Gmail app)
- Open the Gmail app, tap your profile picture and choose Add another account → Other.
- Enter your full email address and tap Manual setup → Personal (IMAP).
- Enter your password. For the incoming server use
mx.whysharedmail.com, port 993, security SSL/TLS. - For the outgoing server use
mx.whysharedmail.com, port 465, SSL/TLS, and keep “Require sign-in” on. - Choose how often to sync and finish.
Microsoft Outlook (Windows and Mac)
- Go to File → Add Account (on Mac: Outlook → Settings → Accounts → +).
- Type your email address, open Advanced options and tick Let me set up my account manually.
- Choose IMAP and enter the incoming and outgoing settings from the table above.
- Enter your password and click Connect.
Thunderbird
Thunderbird usually finds the settings automatically. If not, choose Configure manually and enter the IMAP and SMTP values from the table, with “Normal password” as the authentication method.
Troubleshooting
- “Username or password incorrect” — the username must be the whole email address. Try the password in webmail first.
- Can receive but not send — check that outgoing authentication is on and the port is 465 (SSL) or 587 (STARTTLS).
- Sent mail missing on other devices — make sure the app saves sent mail to the server’s Sent folder (an IMAP setting in most apps).
- Certificate warning — check you typed
mx.whysharedmail.comexactly.

Frequently asked questions
Should I use IMAP or POP3?
Use IMAP. It keeps mail on the server, so your phone, laptop and webmail all show the same folders and read status. POP3 downloads mail to one device and is only useful in special cases.
Which port should I use for SMTP?
Use 465 with SSL/TLS. If your network blocks it, use 587 with STARTTLS. Both are secure.
Why does my phone keep asking for the password?
Usually the password was changed in the dashboard, or the username is not the full email address. Use your complete address as the username and the current mailbox password.
